Senator Imee Marcos had a meeting with President Marcos in an executive session. Senate President Zubiri requested the meeting due to the signature campaign to amend the constitution through people’s initiative, which allegations of bribery have marked. Senator Marcos believes her cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, is behind the campaign.
Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva has stated that his office has received numerous complaints and has secured evidence, including an audio recording in which four Congressmen admitted that the initiative came from their Chamber. Villanueva released this information during Tuesday’s hearing. This indicates that 90% of the Congressmen, including a congressman, are pointing fingers at their leader.
Senator Marcos has stated that the president requested Romualdez to halt the People’s Initiative earlier this month. It appears that Congress is going against the agreement made with the Senate in the presence of the president.
